We report a case of nephrostomy tract tumor seeding following percutaneous pyeloscopic manipulation of a renal pelvic carcinoma. To our knowledge, this is the second reported case of such a lesion surrounding the nephrostomy tract. Percutaneous pyeloscopic treatment carries a potential risk of local tumor spillage and implantation in the nephrostomy tract.

Objectives:The aim of the present study was to assess the analgesic efficacy of IV ketamine injection inaddition to nephrostomy tract infiltration of ketamine – bupivacaine on postoperative pain relief after tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Patients and Methods: Patients (n = 100), with renal stone who were candidates for PCNL were randomized to five groups with 20 cases in each: G...

The post-surgical effects of ureterostomy and nephrostomy were compared, and the following results were obtained: (1) reduction of renal function was greater after ureterostomy than after nephrostomy and (2) pyelonephritis occurred more frequently following ureterostomy than nephrostomy. In addition, electoureterography and urometrography were conducted in 10 cases following ureterostomy. One c...

INTRODUCTION We previously reported on the effectiveness of ureteroscopy-assisted retrograde nephrostomy during percutaneous nephrolithotomy and report two cases of lower calyx calculi in horseshoe kidney that were successfully treated with ureteroscopy-assisted retrograde nephrostomy. During the ureteroscopy-assisted retrograde nephrostomy procedure, a ureteroscope is advanced in the desired c...

However, reaching the target calyx with the ureteroscope is difficult in patients with obstructive renal pelvic stones. CASE PRESENTATION A 53-year-old Japanese woman was referred to our department for the treatment of a right renal stone. She was admitted to our department for percutaneous neph...

Renocolic fistula is a rare clinical entity. In the past, its incidence was high due to infection, especially tuberculosis, and renal stone complications; which gradually reduced with advancements in antimicrobial therapy and better stone management. The incidence of renocolic fistulae, specifically iatrogenic one, has re-emerged due to minimally invasive renal surgery and regular percutaneous ...
