Mathematical modeling based on a probabilistic approach for making decisions for organ transplantation can be successfully employed in cases when the choice of decisions can affect the results produced. In this study, the minimum probability of success required for organ transplantion in case of multi-donors is determined. The governing equations are constructed in terms of probabilities and so...

Hepatic Artery Pseudoaneurysms (HAP) after liver transplantation are rare and associated with high mortality. Different treatment options exist for HAP, which include surgical intervention, radiological coil embolization or stenting retransplantation. We describe a case of patient presenting HAP transplantion, that was successfully treated stent grafting, allowing preservation the arterial flow...

Immunosuppressive drugs are now unavoidibly used after the transpantation of liver, heart and bone marrow, as well as in certain autoimmune diseases.among these agents,cyclosporine-A (CYA) is one of the most effective Immunosuppressants which is widely used.but as any Immunosuppressive agent, the use of CYA is not without harmful side effects.neurotoxin, nephrotoxic and hepatotoxic complications,m...

Background: Microparticles are small (0.1–1 μm), extracellular vesicles that are used as diagnostic and prognostics markers of kidney diseases and kidney transplantation. They contain cytoplasm and surface markers of their cells of origin. The aim of this review is to describe the functional capabilities of microparticles in kidney diseases with focus on kidney transplantion. Main body: Micropa...

We describe the first isolation of an NDM-1-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Italy. In May 2013, a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and history of prior hospitalisation in Belgrad, Serbia, underwent stem cell transplantation at a tertiary care hospital in Rome, Italy. After transplantion, sepsis by NDM-1-producing P. aeruginosa occurred, leading to septic shock and fatal outcome.

Background Disabling pansclerotic morphea is an extremely rare and severe disorder in children, systemic treatment with corticosteroids and methotrexate (MTX) or mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) are the most common therapies. However, patients can develop severe disabilities. Autologous stem cell transplantion (ASCT) is a successful treatment option for systemic scleroderma and might also be benefic...

Hepatitis C is one of the commonest chronic viral infections world-wide and has major health‐ care implications. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the estimated prevalence of chronic HCV infection world-wide ranges from 0.1% to more than 12%, equating to approxi‐ mately 170 million chronic carriers and incidence of 3-4 million new cases per year (Carbone et al., 2011). Chronic kidne...
