Methoxy-substituted aromatic diimines and corresponding homoleptic copper( i ) ii complexes as possible redox mediators in dye-sensitized solar cells.

In this paper we used two free-metal organic dyes (dye 1 and dye 2) based on indigo and thioindigo with cyanoacrylic acid as the electron acceptor group. The proposed dyes were sensitized from naphalene as the starting material by standard reactions and characterized by different analytical techniques and UV-Visible spectroscopy after purification. Spectrophotometric measurements of the organic...

Titanium dioxide-based nanofibers (TiO2 nanofiber) were prepared by an electrospinning technique. The electrospun composite fibers were synthesized at different concentrations of titanium isopropoxide (25.35, 50.69, 76.05 wt%) and calcinated at different temperatures (450 oC, 650 oC and 850 oC) for 2 h. The diameters of nanofibers decreased by increas...

Textile-structured solar cells are frequently discussed in the literature due to their prospective applications in wearable devices and in building integrated solar cells that utilize their flexibility, mechanical robustness, and aesthetic appearance, but the current approaches for textile-based solar cells-including the preparation of fibre-type solar cells woven into textiles-face several dif...

20 nm ZnO nanoparticles are used to fabricate the mesoporous photoanode of the CdS/CdSe quantum dot-sensitized solar cells by the simple doctor blade method. A maximum power conversion efficiency of 4.46% has been achieved, which indicated exciting prospects for ZnO nanoparticle based quantum dot-sensitized solar cells.

Nowadays, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are the most extensively investigated systems for the conversion of solar energy into electricity, particularly for implementation in devices where low cost and good performance are required. Nevertheless, a key aspect is still to be addressed, being considered strongly harmful for a long time, which is the presence of water in the cell, either in th...

Oxide nanocrystallite aggregates are candidates for use in dye-sensitized solar cells. The aggregates are of submicron size, formed by nano-sized crystallites and, therefore, able to offer both a large specific surface area and desirable size comparable to the wavelength of light. While used for a photoelectrode in a dye-sensitized solar cell, the aggregates can be designed to generate effectiv...
