We calculate nuclear shadowing in lepton-deuteron deep inelastic scattering, which arises from the double scattering of the virtual photon from both nucleons in the deuteron. The total correction to the deuteron structure function is found to be < ∼ 1% at small x, but dependent on the model deuteron wavefunction. The resulting increase in the corrected neutron structure function is ∼ 1 − 2% for...

The current normalization of the cross section of inclusive high-p T particle production in deuteron-gold collisions measured at RHIC relies on Glauber model calculations for the inelastic dAu cross section. These calculations should be corrected for diffrac-tion. Moreover, they miss the Gribov's inelastic shadowing which makes nuclei more transparent (color transparency) and reduce the inelast...

We discuss the new constraints on gluon parton distribution function (PDF) in lead nucleus, derivable with Hessian PDF reweighting method from 5.02 TeV p+Pb measurements of dijet (CMS) and D0-meson (LHCb) nuclear modification ratios. The impact is found to be significant, placing stringent mid- previously unconstrained small-x regions. CMS data confirm existence anti-shadowing onset shadowing, ...

We study how much gluon shadowing can be perturbatively generated through the modified QCD evolution in heavy nuclei. The evolution of small-x gluons is investigated within the semiclassical approximation. The method of characteristics is used to evaluate the shadowed distributions in low-Q and small-x region. In solving the modified evolution equation, we model in simultaneously fusions from i...

We study the dynamical evolution of the deposition interface using both discrete and continuous models for which shadowing effects are important. We explain why continuous and discrete models implying both only shadowing deposition do not give the same result and propose a continuous model which allow to recover the result of the discrete one exhibiting a strong columnar morphology.

We investigate the different perturbative QCD-based models for nuclear shadowing of gluons. We show that in the kinematic region appropriate to RHIC experiment, all models give similar estimates for the magnitude of gluon shadowing. At scales relevant to LHC, there is a sizable difference between predictions of the different models.

Performance of OFDM using postdetection-combiningbased macrodiversity is analyzed on a shadowed multipath channel, and the effect of correlated shadowing is investigated. We show that the postdetection-combiningbased macrodiversity gives larger pe~ormance gain than its selection-based counterpart, and yields much betterperformance than no diversity case even for the fully correlated shadowing s...

We propose a simple method to express shading and shadowing of virtual objects in Mixed Reality especially appropriate for static architecture models in outdoor scenes. We create the shadows of the virtual objects in a fast and efficient way using a set of pre-rendered basis images and shadowing planes. The proposed method is limited in interactivity but can operate in near real-time.

BACKGROUND Premedical students are educated in basic biological and health sciences. As a complement to traditional premedical coursework, medical school applicants are encouraged to shadow practitioners, with the hope that observation will introduce students to the culture and practice of healthcare. Yet the shadowing experience varies widely across practitioners and institutions; resources th...

This study proposes a novel measurement-based method to predict and model three-dimensional (3-D) path loss in indoor scenarios, which first regresses 28 GHz measurements via median modeling then includes ordinary Kriging interpolate shadowing. The performance of this is evaluated by investigating the spatial structure that follows shadowing through semivariogram, covariance function, correlogr...
