The presence of the red palm mite, Raoiella indica Hirst is recorded for the first time in South America. High populations and severe damages caused by this new invasive mite were found on coconut and banana leaves in Sucre (10 degrees 27' 47' N and 64 degrees 10' 38' W) and Monagas (9 masculine46'60' N and 63 masculine12'0' W) states in northeastern Venezuela.

Scolothrips ochoa sp. n. is described from Australia feeding on mites of the genus Raoiella (Tenuipalpidae). Apparently host-specific, this thrips is unusual within the Thripinae in lacking ocellar setae pairs I and II. Moreover, it differs from other Scolothrips species in lacking elongate pronotal midlateral setae, and by having antennal segments III–IV and V– VI broadly joined.

The genus Ultratenuipalpus (Acariformes: Tenuipalpidae) was represented by 24 species prior to this study. In this paper, we describe and illustrate Ultratenuipalpus avarua sp. nov, from Cocos sp. (Arecaceae) in Avarua, Rarotonga, the Cook Islands. A key to the world species of Ultratenuipalpus is provided.

A new species Terminalichus sanya Xu & Fan sp. nov. (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) on Terminalia catappa L. (Combretaceae) from China is described and illustrated. The ontogenetic changes in ventral and leg chaetotaxy on the female, deutonymph, protonymph and larva are presented. The generic definition of Terminalichus is updated and a key to the world species is provided.
