The main symptom...
Tracheomalacia patients often present with nonspecific symptoms like cough, wheezing and dyspnea. Tracheomalacia diagnosis is usually attributed to alternative common conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive lung disease. Tracheomalacia is a common disorder in neonate and infants, which can lead to life-threatening airway occlusion, because of external pressure or intrinsic defect of tracheobroncial cartilage. Aortopexy and Stents are effective in relieving tracheomalacia in the latter patients. In this case we are to show how t-tube cholangiocatheter is effective and easy available in sever tracheomalacia neona...
Tracheomalacia is a malformation of the tracheal membranosa. It is maintained during spontaneous breathing but can be altered by bronchoscopy or positive airway pressure. Tracheomalacia is associated with a high mortality and may cause prolonged intubation and ventilation. Here, the case of a 13-day-old infant with jejunoileal stenosis that had surgery is reported. During induction of general a...
Purpose We review outcomes of posterior tracheopexy for tracheomalacia in esophageal atresia (EA) patients, comparing primary treatment at the time of initial EA repair versus secondary treatment. Methods All EA patients who underwent posterior tracheopexy from October 2012 to September 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical symptoms, tracheomalacia scores, and persistent airway intrusi...
Tracheomalacia is one of the rarest etiologies of chronic cough. Herein, we present the case of an elderly woman with chronic cough who on detailed evaluation was found to have focal (localized) tracheomalacia due to compression by an aberrant right subclavian artery (arteria lusoria). The absence of dysphagia in this patient also deserves particular mention.
A child with a long standing history of cyanotic breath holding attacks presented with acute respiratory distress. Subsequent investigation established that her clinical condition was caused by tracheomalacia. We hypothesise that tracheomalacia might be an under recognised contributor to cyanotic breath holding attacks, the pathogenesis of which is poorly understood.
