in the present study, the effects of chlorella vulgaris on blood and immunological parameters of caspian salmon (salmo trutta caspius) before and after exposure to viral nervous necrosis (vnn) virus were examined. in this regard, four treatments in triplicate were chosen. groups included one control and 3treatments (t1, t2 and t3).  fish in control group, t1, t2 and t3 were fed diets supplement...

Betanodavirus is one of the two genera making up the family Nodaviridae and is the etiological agent of viral nervous necrosis (VNN, also known as viral encephalopathy and retinopathy or VER). The virus infects a large range of host species in more than 50 species of marine and freshwater fish worldwide from different geographical areas and the known host range continues to expand as new specie...

A molecular phylogenetic analysis of 25 isolates of fish nodaviruses, the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis of marine fish, was performed based on the nucleotide sequences (427 bases) of the coat protein gene. These fish nodaviruses were classified into four clusters: tiger puffer nervous necrosis virus, striped jack nervous necrosis virus, berfin flounder nervous necrosis virus, and r...

Sparus aurata larvae infected by viral nervous necrosis were collected from an aquaculture fish farm. The isolated viral genome, composed of two segments (RNA1 and RNA2), was sequenced and analyzed comparatively. Phylogenetic tree analyses revealed that the isolated strain is a reassortant, exhibiting a red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV)-type RNA1 and a striped jack nervous necr...

The genome sequence of nervous necrosis virus strain KS1 isolated from orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) was cloned and analyzed. The viral genome is composed of two single-stranded positive-sense RNA molecules, RNA1 and RNA2. Phylogenetic analysis shows that the virus strain KS1 belongs to the red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus genotype.

The pathogenicity of a Nervous Necrosis Virus isolate obtained from naturally infected Golden grey mullet (Liza auratus) suffering serious mortalities in Iranian coastline water of the Caspian Sea was investigated for first time. An experimental infection has been performed using three groups, two experimental groups and one control group of Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) with mean weight 0.47±0.0...

An acute mortality caused by an uncertain agent occurred in wild golden grey mullet (Liza auratus) population in the Iranian side of the Caspian Sea in February, 2004. Clinical signs of the moribund fish were erratic behavior such as spiral swimming, belly-up at rest and over inflation of swim bladder. Histological examination of brain of dead fish revealed hyperaemia, degeneration and necrosis...
