nowadays, air pollution is a global problem that has had significant growth by technology development, population growth andindustrial development. industrial development brought natural resources deterioration, more manufacturing products, and more environmental pollutants. if pollutant won’t be controlled, human-being and wildlife will face the critical risks. significant release and critical situation is resulted having higher pressure on managers planning pollutants reduction. as today the consequences of so2 and nox have been proved enough, the dispersion of these pollutants will be useful to plan for minimizing the release and meeting the legislative requirements. aermod viewtm is software which has been confirmed by united states environmental protection agency (usepa), and it sets in class of preferred and recommended models. in this study, we simulated the dispersion of emission of co, so2, and (nox) from 8 stacks of esfahan petrochemical plant. the aermod view (version 8.2.0) were used to do the simulations for 1hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, monthly and annual scales. in addition, we compared the standards of iranian department of environment. the results showed that the highest concentration simulated in study area was higher than the standards (10 µg/m3) for most of the months of the year; but the same concentration for so2 and nox were marginal and lower than the standards. the simulated maps indicated that the studied air pollutants dispersed along the south, south-west and west. as the maps shows the effects of wind directions is strong and topography affected significantly. we conclude that although the residential area of cities (isfahan, shahin shahr, khoeini shahr, and najafabad) exposed to not high concentration of the studied gases but a huge area of these cities are affecting regularly. therefore, the longterm social and health impacts of the exposure to the gases will be significant.
