abstract

Abstract- In this research, the performance measures of water equity and productivity have been optimizedin the entire DoroodzanIrrigation Network by using genetic algorithms. Results indicated thatirrigation water management improvement at field scale[increasing irrigation application efficiency (Ea) and water reduction fraction (WRF)] has much more impressive impact on raising the performance measures than improvement of conveyance efficiency of channels (Ec).Increment of Ea (40% to 90%) andEc (70% to 90%)resulted inmaximumand minimumincremental effect onwater equity (on average 48.2% and 17.7%, respectively) and productivity (on average 92.0% and 10%, respectively). The incremental effect of WRF (0.0 to 0.8)on water equity and productivitywas on average31.4% and 10%, respectively.Furthermore, the values of performance measures decreased from wet water year to drought water year.Tape irrigation system was considered as the best choice at low quantities of WRF (=0.6), sprinkler irrigation system was considered as the best choice for achieving higher values of water equity and productivity.Meanwhile, when equity and productivity were considered together for a specific method of deficit irrigation scheduling, under specified quantity of irrigation water, with increasing equity the water productivity reduction was negligible.

optimization of water use and cropping patterns using field scale deficit irrigation: a case study in doroodzan irrigation network, fars province

in recognition of the value and limitations of available water resources in agriculture and the occurrence of periodic drought in iran, water conservation and optimal usage of available water is essential. the main objective of this study was to optimize field water management and cropping patterns using deficit irrigation. the effect of reducing water consumption on different growth stages usi...

farmers and agricultural water distribution styles: a case study of doroodzan dam irrigation network, fars province

this research, applied as a survey approach aimed at investigating farmers’ tendency and attitudes toward agricultural water management styles (wmss). therefore, using cochran’s formula and simple random sampling, 244 farmers were selected in doroudzan region, iran. the data were acquired by face-to-face structural interviews and as well through a questionnaire that consisted of closed and open...

Different Network Performance Measures in a Multi-Objective Traffic Assignment Problem

Traffic assignment algorithms are used to determine possible use of paths between origin-destination pairs and predict traffic flow in network links. One of the main deficiencies of ordinary traffic assignment methods is that in most of them one measure (mostly travel time) is usually included in objective function and other effective performance measures in traffic assignment are not considere...

Stochastic Optimization Techniques for Quantification Performance Measures

The estimation of class prevalence, i.e., the fraction of a population that belongs to a certain class, is a very useful tool in data analytics and learning, and finds applications in many domains such as sentiment analysis, epidemiology, etc. For example, in sentiment analysis, the objective is often not to estimate whether a specific text conveys a positive or a negative sentiment, but rather...

Performance Measures for Dynamic Multi-Objective Optimization

As most of the performance measures proposed for dynamic optimization algorithms in the literature are only for single objective problems, we propose new measures for dynamic multi-objective problems. Specifically, we give new measures for those problems in which the Pareto fronts are unknown. As these problems are the most common in the industry, our proposed measures constitute an important c...
