چکیده مقاله:

Curcumin (Cur) has been found to be very efficacious against many different types of cancercells. However, the major disadvantage associated with the use of Cur is its low systemicbioavailability. Our present work investigated the toxic effect of encapsulation of Cur in PLGA(poly lactic-coglycolic acid) nanospheres (NCur) on PC3 human cancer prostate cell. In thepresent study, we have investigated the effects of NCur on growth, autophagia, and apoptosisin PC3 cells, respectively, by MTT assay, fluorescence microscopy, and Flow cytometry. MTTassays revealed that the NCur at the concentration of 25 μg/mL for 48 h were able to exert a morepronounced effect on the PC3 cells as compared to free Cur. Apoptotic index was significantlyincreased in NCur-treated cells compared to free Cur. The percentage of autophagic cells (LC3-II positive cells) was also significantly increased in NCur treatment in comparison to free Cur.These data indicate that the NCur has considerable cytotoxic activity more than Cur on PC3cell lines, which is mediated by induction of both apoptotic and autophagic processes. Thus,NCur has high potential as an adjuvant therapy for clinical application in prostate cancer.

Synergistic effect of curcumin on epigallocatechin gallate-induced anticancer action in PC3 prostate cancer cells

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and curcumin are well known to naturally-occurring anticancer agents. The aim of this study was to verify the combined beneficial anticancer effects of curcumin and EGCG on PC3 prostate cancer cells, which are resistant to chemotherapy drugs and apoptosis inducers. EGCG showed weaker inhibitory effect on PC3 cell proliferation than two other prostate cancer cell ...

Superior anticancer efficacy of curcumin-loaded nanoparticles against lung cancer.

Curcumin (CM) has anticancer potential for several cancers and blocks several steps in the carcinogenesis process. However, the clinical application of CM is greatly limited due to its low effects in vivo resulted from its poor solubility and pharmacokinetics. This raises the possibility of taking CM as a novel model drug in a new nanoparticle-based delivery system. In this study, CM-loaded nan...

Design of curcumin loaded cellulose nanoparticles for prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer (PC) is the most frequently diagnosed disease in men in the United States. Curcumin (CUR), a natural diphenol, has shown potent anti-cancer efficacy in various types of cancers. However, suboptimal pharmacokinetics and poor bioavailability limit its effective use in cancer therapeutics. Several successful CUR nanoformulations have recently been reported which improve upon these ...

Radiosensitizing effects of Sestrin2 in PC3 prostate cancer cells

Objective(s): The stress-responsive genes of Sestrin family are recognized as new tumor suppressor genes in breast carcinoma, however, the function of Sestrin family in human prostate cancer is not clear. Ionizing radiation (IR) is known to induce Sestrin gene expression in breast cancer cells. However, the response of Sestrin to IR has not been reported in PC3 prostate cancer cells. Materials ...
