چکیده مقاله:

Background: Viral hepatitis is one of common infectious diseases and known as health problem around the world. Present cross-sectional study was performed to determine the association between HBeAg and HBV-DNA in patients who referred to Royan Institute for Reproductive Biomedicine and Amiralmomenin Hospital (Islamic Azad University) between 2012 and 2015. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, 222 patients were assessed and their HBe-Ag and HBV-DNA were analyzed by serological and molecular assays to determine the association between HBeAg and HBV-DNA for infectivity of infection. The results were gathered and recorded in the study checklist. Results: 222 chronic HBsAg positive carriers, including 74 (33.2%) female and 148 (66.8%) male were studied. Of studied population, 10(6.8%) HBeAg positive, 108 (75.5%) HBeAb positive and 94 (42.34%) HBV DNA were detected. Level of detectable HBV-DNA was significantly higher in patients with HBeAg positive in compare with patients with negative HBe Ag (, P<0.001). Conclusion: According to study findings, there is clinical association between HBe Ag positive and HBV-DNA level and we can use HBeAg for assessing the infectivity of HBV infection. Keywords: HBV DNA, HBe Ag, HBe Ab, HBsAg

HBeAg/anti-HBe, alanine aminotransferase and HBV DNA levels in HBsAg positive chronic carriers.

Serum samples from a total of 72 chronic hepatitis B virus carriers were analysed by serological, biochemical and molecular assays. The aim was to evaluate the relationship of the serological and biochemical parameters with molecular markers in order to assess the infectivity of virus. Out of 72 chronic HBsAg positive carriers, 28 patients were HBeAg positive and anti-HBe negative, 38 patients ...

Prevalence of HBe Ag and LFT Survey in HBsAg Positive Blood Donors in Kerman

The hepatitis-B virus (HBV) is one of the most common chronic pathogens in the world. More than 2 billions of world population have been exposed to this virus and 350 millions of them (5% of world population) are chronic carriers of HBV. One of the most common routes of transmission of this virus is blood products and transfusion . For this reason blood transfusion organization controls all of ...

New assays for quantitative determination of viral markers in management of chronic hepatitis B virus infection.

We performed a quantitative study of serum hepatitis B virus (HBV) markers, including new parameters such as pre-S1 antigen (Ag), pre-S2 Ag, and anti-HBx, in 88 chronic hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) carriers. New IMx assays for HBsAg and immunoglobulin M (IgM) anti-HBc detection were also used. The population studied was composed of 65 chronic hepatitis cases (40 positive for hepatitis B ...

Correlation between HBsAg quantitative assay results and HBV DNA levels in chronic HBV

BACKGROUND Viral load has been used to diagnose and monitor patients who are being treated for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). The Diagnosis methods are molecular-based and expensive. Quantitation of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) by automated chemiluminescent micro-particle immunoassay has been proposed to be a surrogate marker. Quantitating HBV DNA levels molecularly is expensive; thus, a che...

Detection of HbsAg and HBV DNA in serum and saliva of HBV carriers.

Serum and saliva samples from 23 patients known to be HBsAg-positive HBV carriers and 17 healthy control subjects were analyzed for hepatitis B virus (HBV) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). All serum samples of the HBV carriers were positive for HBsAg, with 21 also positive for HBV DNA. In comparison, 22 saliva samples of HBV carriers were positiv...
