چکیده مقاله:

The aim of this study was to isolate Escherichia coli from chickens and to determine the presence of the eaeA gene, a virulence factor detected in Escherichia coli, in the isolates by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Different chicken organs (lung, liver and spleen) were inoculated onto blood agar and biochemical tests were performed on the suspicious isolates. Escherichiacoliwas isolated from 67.5% (81/120) of the samples. DNA was extracted from these isolates and was amplified by PCR, using a pair of primers derived from the eaeA (virulence) gene. In the agarose gel examination of PCR products, 48.1% (39/81) of the isolates were determined to have this virulence factor. Correct amplification with a molecular length of 384 bp was obtained in the analysis of all the isolates by species-specific PCR, which confirmed the results of the detection of the eaeA gene in Escherichia coli. The eaeA gene, which is mainly responsible for the virulence of Escherichia coli, is commonly present in Escherichia coli strains isolated from this region and the significance of this situation for animal and public health was discussed.

Detection of the ectC Gene in Halomonas Strains by Polymerase Chain Reaction

1, 4, 5, 6-Tetrahydro-2-methyl-4-pyrimidine carboxylic acid (ectoine) is an excellent osmoprotectant. Ectoine and hydroxyl ectoines are of great significance to the biotechnology industry, thus the detection and isolation of ectoine producing bacteria is of great importance. Hence, this study involved the detection of the ectC gene (encoding ectoin synthase enzyme) using polymerase chain reacti...

Enterobacterial Repetitive Intergenic Consensus Polymerase Chain Reaction (ERIC-PCR) Genotyping of Escherichia coli Strains Isolated from Different Animal Stool Specimens

Background: Escherichia coli is a commensal-pathogenic organism, which includes a wide range of strains. Despite several advanced molecular-genomic technologies for detecting and identifying different strains of E. coli, Enterobacterial Repetitive Intergenic Consensus Polymerase Chain Reaction (ERIC-PCR) technique is ...

Detection of tetracycline resistance genes in bacteria isolated from fish farms using polymerase chain reaction

Five common tetracycline resistance genes tet(A), tet(B), tet(M), tet(O) and tet(S) were studied by polymerase chain reaction in 100 bacteria isolated from Iranian fish farms. In the antibiogram test most of the bacteria were either intermediately or completely resistant to tetracycline. Nine isolates out of 46 Aeromonas spp. contained eithe...

Antibiotic Resistance in Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli Isolated from Broiler Chickens in Pakistan

Background: Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) strains are predominant cause of gastrointestinal tract illnesses. The main objective of the study was to determine antibiotic resistance in various types of DEC isolated from chicken broilers farmed in Pakistan. Methods: A total of 200 feces and 200 meat samples from broiler chickens were collected from the slaughtering shops in Southern Punjab...

Detection of infectious bronchitis virus serotypes by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in broiler chickens

Infectious bronchitis (IB) is a highly contagious disease of the respiratory and urogenital tract of chickens, caused by infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a member of the family Coronaviridae. The disease is common throughout the world where chickens are produced commercially. PCR on reverse transcribed RNA is a potent technique for the detection of IBV. In comparison with classical detection ...
