چکیده مقاله:

Background and purpose: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) as a progressive metabolic disorder is rising very fast around the world. Diagnosis of T2DM at early stages (prediabetic) is important in reducing the mortality associated with this disease. Several studies have shown that micro-RNAs play a major role in the pathogenesis of the T2DM. Because of the high stability of these regulatory RNA in body fluids and the availability of sensitive technology, such as Real-time PCR for detecting them, they can be used as epigenetic biomarker in the early diagnosis of T2DM. In this study, for the first time, miR - 181 expression levels were investigated in patients with T2DM in Yazd province, Iran. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, Real-time PCR was used to quantify expression levels of miR-181b in 90 individuals including T2DM patients (n=30), prediabetic (n=30), and healthy individuals (n=30). Results: There were significant differences in miR-181b expression levels between the groups studied. Conclusion: Reduced miR-181b expression levels in T2DM and pre-diabetic subjects compared to healthy individuals suggests that miR-181b could be used as a new epigenetic diagnostic marker for early diagnosis of T2DM.

Investigating the Molecular miRNAs as Biomarkers of Type 2 Diabetes

Introduction: Biomarkers would significantly improve the early detection of the disease and identification of individuals at risk of emerging complications. Diabetes mellitus is a group of diverse and complex metabolic disorders. Both type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) mellitus are associated with distinct alterations in the profile of MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in the blood, which are som...

Association of MiR-146a Expression and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis

Although deregulation of miR-146a has been reported in type 2 diabetes repeatedly, the direction of deregulation events (up or down) remained to be inconsistent in literatures.  Therefore, in this study, we performed a meta-analysis on the possible association between miR-146a expression levels and type 2 diabetes. A systematic literature searching of PubMed, ISI Web of Science and Google ...

miR-181b as a potential molecular target for anticancer therapy of gastric neoplasms.

OBJECTIVE MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in carcinogenesis. The aim of the present study was to explore the effects of miR-181b on gastric cancer. METHODS The expression level of miR-181b was quantified by qRT-PCR. MTT, flow cytometry and matrigel invasion assays were used to test proliferation, apoptosis and invasion of miR-181b stable transfected gastric cancer cells. RESULTS miR...

Multiple Biomarker Prediction of Type 2 Diabetes

T ype 2 diabetes is predictable and preventable. Obesity, familial diabetes, and higher-than-normal blood glucose levels are well-known risk factors for development of type 2 diabetes by middle age; recent prediction models have incorporated these with other readily measurable features of metabolic syndrome (elevated blood pressure, low HDL cholesterol, and elevated triglycerides) to generate v...

Association of miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 polymorphisms with type 2 diabetes susceptibility: A Meta-Analysis

Background and Aim: Several investigations have evaluated the association of miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 single-nucleotide polymorphisms with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the findings are conflicting and inconclusive. Therefore, this meta-analysis performed to investigate the association between these polymorphisms and T2D risk. Methods: Studies were identifie...
