چکیده مقاله:

Background and purpose: This study was carried out to determine the relationship between maxillary central incisors and incisive papilla in complete dentures and compare that with dentate people. Materials and methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the horizontal distance between the maximum prominence of labial surface of maxillary central incisors to the middle and posterior points of incisor papilla was measured using a caliper, on the casts prepared from 30 dentate patients and 30 complete dentures made in Dental School affiliated with Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Results: Average distance between the midpoint of incisive papilla to the labial surface was 9.641±0.866 mm in dentate people and 8.851±1.504 mm in complete dentures. The mean distance between the posterior point of incisive papilla and the labial surface was 12.815±1.264 mm in dentate people and 10.788±1.837 mm in complete dentures. Independent t-test showed significant difference between the two groups in mean distance between the midpoint and the labial surface (0.790 mm, P<0.05). The distance between the posterior point and the labial surface was also found to be significantly different between the two groups (2.026±0.407 mm, P<0.001). Conclusion: According to the limitations of this study, the midpoint of incisive papilla is suggested to be more reliable than posterior point in assessing the position of anterior maxillary teeth among complete denture patients.

Relationship of maxillary incisors in complete dentures to the incisive papilla.

We investigated the relationship of the maxillary central incisors to the incisive papilla in wearers of complete dentures. First, image analyzer software was used to examine the relationship of the midpoint of the incisive papilla to the labial surface of the maxillary central incisors on occlusal photographs of 120 maxillary casts from dentate Malaysian adults. Then, an Alma denture gauge was...

A study on the Relationship of Maxillary Central Incisors to Incisive Papilla in Nepalese Population

Introduction: When natural teeth lost, it becomes difficult to arrange the teeth in their original position in the complete denture. Variety of guides has been suggested for arrangement of artificial teeth. Incisive papilla is recognized as an important landmark to locate the maxillary anterior teeth position in complete denture fabrication. The objective of this study was to find the relation ...

Investigation of Vertical Distance between Incisive Papilla and Incisal Edge of Maxillary Central Incisors

OBJECTIVES The aim of the present study was to determine the vertical distance between maxillary central incisors and incisive papilla. METHODS The vertical distance between incisal edges of maxillary central incisors and the centre of the incisive papilla was measured by a digital caliper on the stone casts that were obtained from dentate subjects. RESULTS The mean vertical distance betwee...

Evaluation of Maxillary Central Incisor and Canine in Relation to Inter Papilla Line: A Comparative Study

Several investigators have studied the horizontal relationship between incisive papilla and maxillary central incisor and measured the papilla incisor distance in dentate subjects to extrapolate this distance as a guide to place maxillary central incisors in complete dentures. Based on this premise, incisive papilla is recognized as an important landmark in complete denture construction. Papill...
