In this work we first propose a heteroscedastic generalization to RVM, a fast Bayesian framework for regression, based on some recent similar works. We use variational approximation and expectation propagation to tackle the problem. The work is still under progress and we are examining the results and comparing with the previous works.
Many of the classification algorithms used in practice today are based on extensions of the binary SVM classifier, which has been very successful, especially in the field of bioinformatics. SVMs run on information derived from the convex hulls of the initial training data, ignoring the data points inside the convex hull. This paper presents a new way of deriving the separating hyperplane used i...
Considerable efforts have been devoted to the implementation of efficient optimization method for solving the Support Vector Machine dual problem. This document proposes an historical perspective and and in depth review of the algorithmic and computational issues associated with this problem.
Support Vector Machine (SVM) is one of the most popular classifiers in pattern recognition, which aims to find a hyperplane that can separate two classes of samples with the maximal margin. As a result, traditional SVM usually more focuses on the scatter between classes, but neglects the different data distributions within classes which are also vital for an optimal classifier in different real...
This paper presents a practical algorithm for facial age estimation from frontal face image. Facial age estimation generally comprises two key steps including age image representation and age estimation. The anthropometric model used in this study includes computation of eighteen craniofacial ratios and a new accurate skin wrinkles analysis in the first step and a pairwise binary support vector...
Accurate protein function prediction is an important subject in bioinformatics, especially wheresequentially and structurally similar proteins have different functions. Malate dehydrogenaseand L-lactate dehydrogenase are two evolutionary related enzymes, which exist in a widevariety of organisms. These enzymes are sequentially and structurally similar and sharecommon active site residues, spati...
In this work some quantitative structure activity relationship models were developed for prediction of three bioenvironmental parameters of 28 volatile organic compounds, which are used in assessing the behavior of pollutants in soil. These parameters are; half-life, non dimensional effective degradation rate constant and effective Péclet number in two type of soil. The most effective descripto...
