The present study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features of cases of classic Kaposi's sarcoma (CKS) in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, and analyze its etiology and treatment. A total of 114 patients, who were clinicopathologically diagnosed with CKS at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (Urumqi, China) between 1980 and 2015 were retrospectively ...

The role of consciousness in learning has been debated for nearly 50 years. Recent studies suggest that conscious awareness is needed to bridge the gap when learning about two events that are separated in time, as is true for trace fear conditioning. This has been repeatedly shown and seems to apply to other forms of classical conditioning as well. In contrast to these findings, we show that in...

We present a very general form of electronic friction as present when a molecule with multiple orbitals hybridizes with a metal electrode. To develop this picture of friction, we embed the quantum-classical Liouville equation (QCLE) within a classical master equation (CME). Thus, this article extends our previous work analyzing the case of one electronic level, as we may now treat the case of m...

In this paper, we present a method for estimating the local keys of an audio signal. We propose to address the problem of local key finding by investigating the possible combination and extension of different previous proposed global key estimation approaches. The specificity of our approach is that we introduce key dependency on the harmonic and the metric structures. In this work, we focus on...

— The axiomatic definition of mass in classical mechanics, outlined by Mach in the second half of 19th century and improved by several authors, is simplified and extended to the theory of special relativity. According to the extended definition presented here, the mass of a relativistic particle is independent of its velocity and coincides with the rest mass, i.e., with the mass defined in clas...

In this paper we continue the study of the geometrical features of a functional approach to classical mechanics proposed some time ago. In particular we try to shed some light on a N=2 " universal " supersymmetry which seems to have an interesting interplay with the concept of ergodicity of the system. To study the geometry better we make this susy local and clarify pedagogically several issues...

We prove a classical analogue of Pauli’s theorem, showing that there is no time observable in classical mechanics in the very same sense that there is no time observable in quantum mechanics. We then examine how this result can be circumvented, and argue the result suggests a certain Aristotelian interpretation of time in classical mechanics.

In the Hilbert space formulation of classical mechanics, pioneered by Koopman and von Neumann, there are potentially more observables than in the standard approach to classical mechanics. In this Letter, we show that actually many of those extra observables are not invariant under a set of universal local symmetries which appear once the Koopman and von Neumann formulation is extended to includ...

— The paper shows that the current view of globalization as an automatic and benign force is flawed: it focuses on only one, positive, face of globalization while entirely neglecting the malignant one. The two key historical episodes that are adduced by the supporters of the ‘‘globalization as it is’’ (the Halcyon days of the 1870–1913, and the record of the last two decades of development) are...

abstract translation has become a cultural act which plays a significant role in human life. with the emergence of functional translation theories, and skopos theory in particular, translation has been considered as a purposeful, interpersonal and intercultural activity which is produced for particular recipients and directed by a specific purpose. this purpose determines the translatio...
