Low values on heart rate variability (HRV) derived parameters at resting have been used to predict cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and mortality. In this regard, short-term HRV recordings (usually from 5 15 minutes) are increasing their popularity because data acquisition can be performed under more controlled conditions than long-term (e.g., 24 hours). However, different methodological aspects b...

Background and purpose: In the past two decades, epidemiological studies have shown that outdoor air pollution lead to increase in respiratory symptoms, cardiovascular diseases, chronic bronchitis and mortality. This study aimed to estimate AQI index and the risk of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and premature mortality caused by PM10, PM2.5 and SO2 in Yazd, 2013-2014. Materials and...

introduction sulfur dioxide has been widely studied among the human- made pollutants. air pollution is a major environmental risk to health. the less air pollution, the better the cardiovascular and respiratory health of the population will be, both long- and short-term. several studies have demonstrated relation between on short and long term effects exposure to air pollutants with human healt...

HEATH and Whitaker 1 applied the term hypertensive pulmonary vascular disease to patients with chronic, severe pulmonary hypertension. They emphasized that this disease is a distinct clinicopathologic entity with uniform clinical features and characteristic morphologic changes of the pulmonary arteries and arterioles irrespective of the etiology of the hypertension. The vascular changes indicat...

We assessed joint associations of cardiorespiratory fitness and diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), or both with all-cause mortality. High-fitness eliminated mortality risk in diabetes (P<0.001) and halved risk of death in diabetes/CVD (P<0.001). Fitness was a potent effect modifier in the association of diabetes and CVD to mortality.

The purpose of this study was to survey effects of twelve weeks endurance training on serum levels of selected hormones in underweight men. Eighteen healthy underweight men were randomly divided at two groups: endurance training and control. Serum levels of adiponectin, testosterone, and cortisol were assessed before and after training. Endurance training protocol consisted of twelve weeks peda...

Introduction: Air pollution due to particulate matter is a major environmental and health issue in all regions of the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the health impacts of PM10 (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤10μm) in Khorramabad city, Iran in 2014. Materials and methods: In this study, PM10 sampling was conducted by a high-volume sampler at flow rate of 1.1-1...

Two groups of sedentary older adults, participating in either a lifestyle physical activity intervention (LIFE, n = 60) or a structured exercise intervention (STRU, n = 60), were compared with a control group (CO, n = 66) in terms of physical fitness and cardiovascular risk factors. Participants in LIFE were stimulated to integrate physical activity into their daily routines and received an ind...
