Statler (1987) demonstrated that self-consistent triaxial models with the perfect density law could be constructed for virtually any choice of axis ratios. His experiments are repeated here using triaxial mass models based on Jaffe's density law, which has a central density that diverges as r −2 , similar to what is observed in low-luminosity elliptical galaxies. Most of the boxlike orbits are ...

background: deficiency of attention and concentration is one of great reasons of traffic incidents and it covers between 20 to 50 percent of events due to careless and mindedness. studies show that attention and concentration are considered as one of important cognitive components in safe driving. vibration is an important physical effect in all vehicles. till now has not been any organized stu...

a chaotic optimization algorithm (coa) based approach for the robust coordinated design of the upfc power oscillation damping controller and the conventional power system stabilizer has been investigated in this paper. chaotic optimization algorithms, which have the features of easy implementation, short execution time and robust mechanisms of escaping from local optimum, is a promising tool fo...

Chaos is embedded to the he Charged System Search (CSS) to solve practical optimization problems. To improve the ability of global search, different chaotic maps are introduced and three chaotic-CSS methods are developed. A comparison of these variants and the standard CSS demonstrates the superiority and suitability of the selected variants for practical civil optimization problems.

A vibrating plate is set into a chaotic state of wave turbulence by either a periodic or a random local forcing. Correlations between the forcing and the local velocity response of the plate at the forcing point are studied. Statistical models with fairly good agreement with the experiments are proposed for each forcing. Both distributions of injected power have a logarithmic cusp for zero powe...

The dynamic responses of some machine systems with clearance connections and component flexibility are very sensitive to even small variations of system parameters. This hypersensitivity is associated with potential system chaotic behavior. It is shown that it can limit the usefulness of the predictions of computer simulations for design. Analytical and experimental results suggest the dynamic ...

The Melnikov criterion is used to examine a global homoclinic bifurcation and transition to chaos in the case of a quarter car model excited kinematically by the road surface profile. By analyzing the potential an analytic expression is found for the homoclinic orbit. By introducing an harmonic excitation term and damping as perturbations, the critical Melnikov amplitude of the road surface pro...

In this paper, under the existence of system uncertainties, external disturbances, and input nonlinearity, global finite time synchronization between two identical attractors which belong to a class of second-order chaotic nonlinear gyros are achieved by considering a method of continuous smooth second-order sliding mode control (HOAMSC). It is proved that the proposed controller is robust to m...
