We have found through ex vivo and in vivo angiogenesis models that the adrenomedullin gene-related peptide, proadrenomedullin NH2-terminal 20 peptide (PAMP), exhibits a potent angiogenic potential at femtomolar concentrations, whereas classic angiogenic factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor and adrenomedullin mediate a comparable effect at nanomolar concentrations. We found that hu...

Arsenic is a wide spread carcinogen associated with several kinds of cancers including skin, lung, bladder, and liver cancers. Lung is one of the major targets of arsenic exposure. Angiogenesis is the pivotal process during carcinogenesis and chronic pulmonary diseases, but the role and mechanism of arsenic in regulating angiogenesis remain to be elucidated. In this study we show that short tim...

Angiogenesis is critical for oxygen and nutrient delivery to proliferating tumor cells. Therefore, as angiogenesis is required and vital for the tumor growth and metastasis. Antiangiogenic therapy is considered to be beneficial for tumor growth prevention due to starvation of tumor of oxygen and nutrients, but in some cases, the benefits are not permanent. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors and many ot...

Antiangiogenic agents targeting the vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) pathway play an important role in current cancer treatment modalities but are limited by alternative angiogenesis mechanisms. Recent studies suggest that enhanced signaling through a COX-2/PGE2 axis contributes to VEGF-independent tumor angiogenesis. Thus, COX-2/PGE2 inhibition may potentiate VEGF therapies.

Angiogenesis is regulated by the local balance between angiogenesis stimulators and inhibitors. A number of endogenous angiogenesis inhibitors have been found in the body. The origin of these inhibitors is mostly extrinsic to the vasculature. Recently however, endothelial cells themselves have been found to produce angiogenesis inhibitors including delta-like 4 and vasohibin 1. These intrinsic ...

Endometriosis is a debilitating disorder, defined as the presence of endometrial gland and stroma outside of the uterus. It may affect angiogenesis and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is one of the angiogenic factors that plays an important role in both physiological and pathological angiogenesis. The present study aimed to evaluate the association of VEGF -2549 insertion/deletion (I/...

Endometrial carcinoma is the most common gynecologic malignancy and fourth prevalent cancer in women modern world. Despite a relatively high chance of surgical cure, for patients with advanced or recurrent disease there are few therapeutic options. Angiogenesis has been extensively studied ever since vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was discovered 1980s. Several clinical trials anti-an...

Therapeutic angiogenesis is a promising new concept for the treatment of myocardial and peripheral ischaemia. Members of the VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family are among the most powerful modulators of angiogenesis. They regulate vascular growth and maintenance during embryogenesis and in adults. The present review summarizes the current status of therapeutic angiogenesis using VE...

To figure out the pathway by which epigallocatechin gallate restrains angiogenesis and glycolysis in colorectal cancer through circular ribonucleic acid (actin gamma 2)/microRNA-370-5p axis. Detection of actin 2 microRNA-370-5p patient tissues cells vascular endothelial growth factor A was conducted. Cell viability proliferation, angiogenesis, glucose lactate were examined. Circular microRNA-37...
