An improved protocol for the formal elimination of propene from organic substrates is reported. This process entails the ozonolytic conversion of an alkene to a methoxy hydroperoxide which undergoes fragmentation mediated by copper and iron. The use of soluble Cu(BF4)2 and Fe(BF4)2 results in reproducible results up to a 100 gram scale.

The present study aimed to assess the relationship of soil properties in salt-affected soils. samples were collected from 14 districts Pakistan. Soil salinity and sodicity are common features arid semiarid regions. effects salt’s interactions with micronutrients have not been well studied. Therefore, saline non-saline different locations. microelements (Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn) fractionated into water-s...

Soluble salts, nutrients, and pathogenic bacteria in feedlot-pen runoff have the potential to cause pollution of the environment. A 2-yr study (1998-1999) was conducted at a beef cattle (Bos taurus) feedlot in southern Alberta, Canada, to determine the effect of bedding material [barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) straw versus wood chips] and within-pen location on the chemical and bacterial propertie...

The novel water-soluble ligand, N,N-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)-2-aminoethylphosphonic acid, (Ph2PCH2)2NCH2CH2PO3H2, had been synthesized in quantitative yield by reaction of 2-aminoethylphosphonic acid with bis(hydroxymethyl)diphenylphosphonium chloride in water. Its monoand disodium salts, which can be used as water-soluble ligands for transition metal complex catalysts, were also easily pre...

Plants may induce small-scale heterogeneity in soil nutrients, forming fertile islands. However, this process may depend on plant spices, plant developmental stages and habitat conditions. Vegetation cover in arid and semi-arid regions is mostly in the form of plant patches and bare soil of inter-patch areas, this form of vegetation cover can be useful to study plants impact on soil to get appl...
