In this paper, new upper limits on the parameters of the Continuous Spontaneous Localization (CSL) collapse model are extracted. To this end, the X-ray emission data collected by the IGEX collaboration are analyzed and compared with the spectrum of the spontaneous photon emission process predicted by collapse models. This study allows the obtainment of the most stringent limits within a relevan...

We describe some specific quantum black hole model. It is pointed out that the origin of a black hole entropy is the very process of quantum gravitational collapse. The quantum black hole mass spectrum is extracted from the mass spectrum of the gravitating source. The classical analog of quantum black hole is constructed.

Experimentally measured conical emission rings on the blue side of the filament supercontinuum of a 800 nm 50 fs pulse in air are reproduced in simulations with plasma and the third-order Kerr as the nonlinear terms. This agreement indicates plasma as the dominant mechanism arresting the self-focusing collapse. The higher order Kerr terms with the recently measured coefficients stop the collaps...

A review of previous studies shows that there are two general views on how to determine demand in structures through incremental nonlinear static analysis. In the first view, multi-modal methods are used to determine demand in structures. In this view, the applied load pattern is applied to the structure according to the shape of each vibration mode, assuming that the structure deformation foll...

The columns of frame structures are the key load-bearing components and the exterior columns are susceptible to attack in terrorist blasts. When subjected to blast loads, the columns would suffer a loss of bearing capacity to a certain extent due to the damage imparted which may lead to their collapse and even cause the progressive collapse of the whole structure . The concrete-filled steel col...

We investigate the end state of gravitational collapse of null fluid in higher dimensional space-times. Both naked singularities and black holes are shown to be developing as final outcome of the collapse. The naked singularity spectrum in collapsing Vaidya region (4D) gets covered with increase in dimensions and hence higher dimensions favor black hole in comparison to naked singularity. The C...

Temperature-sensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPA) nanohydrogels were synthesized by nanoemulsion polymerization in water-in-oil systems. Several cross-linking degrees and the incorporation of acrylic acid as comonomer at different concentrations were tested to produce nanohydrogels with a wide range of properties. The physicochemical properties of PNIPA nanohydrogels, and their relation...

In this paper, we study the progressive collapse of three-dimensional framed structures made of reinforced concrete after the sudden loss of a column. The structures are represented by elastoplastic Euler-Bernoulli beams with elongation-rotation failure threshold. We performed simulations using the discrete element method considering inelastic collisions between the structural elements. The res...
