Two micropterous species of Paederus Fabricius, 1775 from East Nepal are described and illustrated: (incertae sedis) digitalis spec. nov. P . acifer They distinguished other geographically close congeners. Including the new species, fauna currently includes 37 24 them exclusive. Additional records two widespread reported Chinese province Yunnan Vietnam.
AbstractPaederus dermatitis is an irritant contact dermatitis due to accidental contact by a beetle belonging to the genus paederus. In this study, clinical efficacies of S. ebulus fruit extract solution in patients affected by paederus dermatitis were evaluated. A randomized double-blind, prospective, placebo-controlled clinical trial was performed in 62 patients with clinical symptoms and sin...

The cosmopolitan beetles of the Paederus genus (potós) cause a severe dermatitis when the insect is crushed against the skin of exposed areas (the cervical region is the most affected). Toxins (pederin and others) from the hemolymph of the insect cause plaques and/or bizarre, linear lesions with erythema, edema, blisters, pustules, crusts and exulcerations. There may be a burning sensation and ...
abstract background and purpose: paederus associated dermatitis has always been considered as a health problem in the northern of iran. since until now, the traditional method and some corticosteroids have been used in the treatment of paederus dermatitis (pd) and no comprehensive studies have been carried out on the new method of treatment. therefore, this study was aimed to compare the anti-i...
Background and purpose: Pederin is a vesicant toxic amide which is found in the haemolymph of the Paederus beetles. It has been considered in studies of cancer treatment with cytotoxicity activity. The present study aimed to review the pederin dermatitis activity from Paederus fuscipes (P. fuscipes) beetles and isolation of symbiotic bacterium associated with pederin biosynthesis. Materials an...
The life history characteristics of the rove beetle Paederus fuscipes Curtis were studied under laboratory conditions using three field strains from Malaysia: Desa Wawasan (DW), Sri Pinang (SP), and Ampang Jajar (AJ). The total development time of immature stages differed significantly among the three strains, especially between DW (17.43 +/- 0.16 d), SP (18.60 +/- 0.19 d), and AJ (18.68 +/- 0....
In this study, two halophilic bacterial strains isolated from saline habitats in Argentina grew in the presence of gas oil. They were identified as Halomonas spp. and Nesterenkonia sp. by 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing. Chemotaxis towards gas oil was observed in Halomonas spp. by using swimming assays.
