This paper proposes a new algorithm of a simulated annealing (SA): Parallel Simulated Annealing using Genetic Crossover (PSA/GAc). The proposed algorithm consists of several processes, and in each process SA is operated. The genetic crossover is used to exchange information between solutions at fixed intervals. While SA requires high computational costs, particularly in continuous problems, thi...

The cycle basis of a graph arises in a wide range of engineering problems and has a variety of applications. Minimal and optimal cycle bases reduce the time and memory required for most of such applications. One of the important applications of cycle basis in civil engineering is its use in the force method to frame analysis to generate sparse flexibility matrices, which is needed for optimal a...

this paper addresses the vehicle routing problem with delivery time cost. this problem aims to find a set of routes of minimal total costs including the travelling cost and delivery time cost, starting and ending at the depot, in such a way that each customer is visited by one vehicle given the capacity of the vehicle to satisfy a specific demand. in this research, a hybrid metaheuristic approa...

The problem of multiprocessor scheduling can be stated as scheduling a general task graph on a multiprocessor system such that a set of performance criteria will be optimized. This study investigates the use of near optimal scheduling strategies in multiprocessor scheduling problem. The multiprocessor scheduling problem is modeled and simulated using five different simulated annealing algorithm...

nowadays organization especially r&d; centers are dealing with project portfolio selection decisions under uncertainty. moreover in the most of the past research, project portfolio selection and scheduling are often considered to be independent problem. this leads to insufficient result in real world. so in this research simultaneous project portfolio selection and scheduling problem is modelin...

We applied simulated annealing algorithm to nurse scheduling problem. For time complexity problem of simulated annealing, we suggested an efficient transition rule using cost matrix for simulated annealing. The experimental results showed that the suggested method generated a nurse scheduling faster in time and better in quality compared to traditional simulated annealing.

Cell formation is the first and most important problem in designing cellular manufacturing systems. We have modeled the dynamic cell formation problem with respect to the minimization of the intercellular movement and cellular reconfiguration costs. Due to the nonpolynomiality of the cell formation models, a newly introduced metaheuristic namely the grenade explosion method (GEM) is applied t...

In this paper, a new methodology is developed for knots placement for cubic spline approximation, using Simulated Annealing. It is not necessary to convert the problem into a discrete combinatorial optimization problem, as presented in other paradigms inspired in genetic algorithm or artificial immune systems, and therefore, removing the constrain of combinatorial optimization problem in the pr...

in some industries as foundries, it is not technically feasible to interrupt a processor between jobs. this restriction gives rise to a scheduling problem called no-idle scheduling. this paper deals with scheduling of no-idle open shops to minimize maximum completion time of jobs, called makespan. the problem is first mathematically formulated by three different mixed integer linear programming...
