In a previous paper the CSCR domain was defined. Here this is taken to the next stage where we consider the design of a particular Collaborative Research Environment to support Students and Supervisors CRESS. Following the CSCR structure a preliminary design for CRESS has been established and a portal framework analysis is undertaken in order to determine the most appropriate set of tools for i...

Discrepancies between assumed dynamical models and observations are often handled by making further probabiIistic assumptions, a tactic which has both strengths and weaknesses. A re-examination of filtering and smoothing is conducted, and an alternative multicriteria approach, which is probability free, is advanced. This approach involves vector minimization as a key ingredient, and it speciali...
Encouraging people to consider multiple alternatives appears to be a useful debiasing technique for reducing many biases (explanation, hindsight, and overconfidence), if the generation of alternatives is experienced as easy. The present research tests whether these alternative generation procedures induce a mental simulation mind-set (cf. Galinsky & Moskowitz, 2000), such that debiasing in one ...

We replicate Moskowitz and Grinblatt’s (1999) findings on industry momentum using data for US large cap stocks between 1998 and 2007. Moskowitz and Grinblatt find that industry momentum strategies appear to be highly profitable. Moskowitz and Grinblatt also demonstrate that individual stock momentum strategies, which buy past winning stocks and sell past losing stocks, are less profitable after...
